Spawn a tamed Megalania at any level

gmsummon spawns it already tamed. Set the level below — it's the pre-tame level, and ARK adds up to a 50% taming bonus on top, so the final creature lands higher. Change the number, copy, paste.

What does the Megalania do in ARK?
Can climb walls and ceilings horizontally — a mounted survivor can fight, fire weapons, and traverse vertical surfaces including cave ceilings. All attacks apply Mega Rabies to unmounted humans, which rapidly drains health and stamina. Megalania is a carnivore (preferred: extraordinary kibble; practical: raw mutton). Knockout tamed via tranq weapons, but its torpor depletes extremely fast — constant narcotics management is essential. Found on ceilings and walls in caves across most maps; uses terrain camouflage and can be forced out of hiding by Rare Flowers or Pachyrhinosaurus rage aura.
How do you use the Megalania's ability in ARK?
Right-click (LT/L2/ZL) toggles climbing mode on/off. Press Spacebar (A/Cross) to switch between climbing and walking. Primary attack (left-click/RT/R2/ZR) while moving executes a Bite (10 dmg); while stationary it executes a Claw Swipe (16 dmg). No radial menu activation needed — climbing is a toggle. Most effective when used for ambush: mount on a cave ceiling and fire ranged weapons from above — enemies rarely look up. Excellent for bypassing cave enemies entirely by climbing over them. Rapid torpor loss during knockout taming (fully depletes in ~38 seconds at level 1) means constant Narcotics or Bio Toxin are critical. Each kill, unconscious state, or egg hatch guarantees 2x Megalania Toxin (required for non-gamma boss summons).
What is the Megalania good for in ARK?
Cave exploration and traversal; ambush ranged combat from vertical surfaces; Megalania Toxin farming for boss tribute; radiation resistance alternative to Rock Drake (Extinction); high-weight hauling at higher levels.
What is the Megalania spawn command in ARK?
Open the console with ~ and enter cheat summon Megalania_Character_BP_C to spawn a wild Megalania in ARK: Survival Ascended. For a tamed one at a level you choose, use cheat gmsummon "Megalania_Character_BP_C" 150. On a server, run enablecheats <ServerAdminPassword> first and keep the cheat prefix.
How do I spawn a tamed Megalania at a specific level?
Use cheat gmsummon "Megalania_Character_BP_C" <level>. The number is the pre-tame level — ARK adds up to a 50% taming bonus, so a value of 100 ends up around level 150. To hit a target level, divide it by 1.5. A gmsummon creature still needs a saddle to ride.
What's the difference between summon, SummonTamed and gmsummon?
summon drops a wild Megalania at a random level. SummonTamed gives you a tamed one but at a random level you can't set. gmsummon spawns it tamed at the level you specify — the one most people want.
Do ARK spawn commands work in single player and on servers?
Yes. In single player the cheat prefix is optional and no password is needed. On a dedicated or non-dedicated session you must run enablecheats <ServerAdminPassword> once, then prefix each spawn with cheat. Set that admin password without hand-editing files using our free ARK config generators.
