ARK Dino Color Builder

Paint a whole creature, not one region. Click a region, pick a color from the swatch palette — sorted by hue, filtered by family — and it writes every SetTargetDinoColor command for you. All 227 colors verified for ARK: Survival Ascended.

Presets

Pick a color for at least one region to build your command.

💡 Aim at your dino, open the console (~), and copy/paste the line above.

🥚 Or spawn a brand-new one already wearing these colors

Most people want the recolor commands above (they work on a dino you already own). This is for spawning a fresh creature in your chosen colors — one command, copy-paste.

⚠ Colors only show after you cryopod the creature in and back out (an ARK quirk with baked colors). Run on your own server first — a bad blueprint path can crash the game.

ARK Color ID FAQ

How do I change a creature's colors in ARK?
Look at the creature, open the console with ~, and run cheat SetTargetDinoColor <ColorRegion> <ColorID> for each region. This tool builds the whole set — click a region, click a color from the palette, and it writes the command. On a server, run enablecheats <ServerAdminPassword> first.
What are color regions?
A creature has up to 6 color regions, numbered 0 to 5 (Region 0 through Region 5). Not every creature uses all six regions, and which body part each region maps to (e.g. 'body main', 'fins', 'spine') differs per creature — check the individual creature's wiki page for its region map.
Why set every region instead of one color?
A creature's look is all its regions together — body, highlights, underside and so on. Recoloring one region rarely gives the result you want, so the builder lets you set all six and gives you the whole repaint as one command. Leave a region blank to keep its current color.
Can I set all the color regions in one command?
Yes. ARK chains console commands with |, so this tool builds one line that recolors every region you've set in a single paste — e.g. cheat SetTargetDinoColor 0 1 | cheat SetTargetDinoColor 1 5. The whole chain runs on one Enter, and each command keeps its cheat prefix so it works on servers too.
Is there a setcolor command for my character or buildings?
Not one that uses Color IDs. No verified Color-ID-based 'setcolor' command exists in ARK. Player/character coloring (SetPlayerColor) uses percentage sliders, not Color IDs, so it is intentionally omitted. The only verified command that takes a Color ID is SetTargetDinoColor, which targets the creature you're looking at.
