The Dodo's signature trait is its rapid and non-timed egg laying — females have a random chance to lay an egg any time they defecate, rather than at fixed intervals like other creatures. This makes a flock with a nearby male an efficient passive egg farm. Dodo is a herbivore. Found on beaches across virtually all maps; one of the first creatures new players encounter. Tamed by knocking out with fists, slingshot, or Wooden Club — anything stronger risks killing them. They do not fight back when attacked.

How do you use the Dodo's ability in ARK?

All egg production is passive. To maximize output: keep at least one male nearby to trigger mate boost on females, then add an Oviraptor set to wander near the flock to further boost egg production rates.
