Spawn a tamed Diplocaulus at any level

gmsummon spawns it already tamed. Set the level below — it's the pre-tame level, and ARK adds up to a 50% taming bonus on top, so the final creature lands higher. Change the number, copy, paste.

What does the Diplocaulus do in ARK?
Shares its own Oxygen with its rider and nearby allied players — while riding, the rider's Oxygen bar slowly refills using the creature's own Oxygen supply. This makes it a living SCUBA tank. It also deals 10x damage to Trilobites and is ignored by Leeches when tamed. Diplocaulus is a piscivore. Knockout tame; Bola it first (it is extremely fast in water and flees on sight). Preferred food is Simple Kibble. Despite the in-game dossier saying Piscivore, it eats Raw Meat as well. Cannot be ridden on land — underwater mount only. Found in swamps and shallow coastal waters.
How do you use the Diplocaulus's ability in ARK?
Oxygen sharing is passive while riding — no activation needed. To share oxygen with a dismounted ally nearby, the ally presses E / Y / Triangle on the Diplocaulus. It can only be ridden underwater. The Oxygen transfer comes from the creature's own Oxygen stat — it will eventually run out, so surface to recharge it. Level Oxygen to extend dive time before needing to surface. Level Melee Damage to improve Trilobite killing speed (for Oil and Silica Pearl harvesting). Level Weight to carry more Trilobite loot. It is significantly fragile — do not take it into deep-ocean zones with Mosasaurus or Tusoteuthis. Best used in shallow-to-mid depth swamp and ocean zones. On Beginner Official Servers (max level 44, no SCUBA access), it is the primary diving solution.
What is the Diplocaulus good for in ARK?
Diving partner / portable oxygen supply, Trilobite farming (Oil, Silica Pearls, Chitin), early-game underwater exploration, Primitive Plus and Beginner Server diving.

How do I spawn a tamed Diplocaulus at a specific level?
Use cheat gmsummon "Diplocaulus_Character_BP_C" <level>. The number is the pre-tame level — ARK adds up to a 50% taming bonus, so a value of 100 ends up around level 150. To hit a target level, divide it by 1.5. A gmsummon creature still needs a saddle to ride.
What's the difference between summon, SummonTamed and gmsummon?
summon drops a wild Diplocaulus at a random level. SummonTamed gives you a tamed one but at a random level you can't set. gmsummon spawns it tamed at the level you specify — the one most people want.
Do ARK spawn commands work in single player and on servers?
Yes. In single player the cheat prefix is optional and no password is needed. On a dedicated or non-dedicated session you must run enablecheats <ServerAdminPassword> once, then prefix each spawn with cheat. Set that admin password without hand-editing files using our free ARK config generators.
