Spawn a tamed Dire Bear at any level

gmsummon spawns it already tamed. Set the level below — it's the pre-tame level, and ARK adds up to a 50% taming bonus on top, so the final creature lands higher. Change the number, copy, paste.

What does the Dire Bear do in ARK?
Gains increasing speed the longer it sprints, eventually reaching a sustained pace faster than most creatures. It also has a passive immunity to Giant Bee stings while mounted, making it the only creature that lets you safely harvest bee hives without taking sting damage. Dire Bear is a omnivore. Spawns primarily in Redwood forests; Polar Bear variants inhabit snow caves. Preferred taming food is Superior Kibble; knockout via tranquilizers. Its accelerating sprint and bee immunity are unique traits among mounts.
How do you use the Dire Bear's ability in ARK?
Primary attack (left click / RT / R2): Bite for 50 damage. Secondary attack (right click / LT / L2): Claw Strike for 65 damage — this is its main harvesting attack but cannot be used while moving. Roar (C / Right Stick) has no combat effect. The bee immunity is fully passive — no activation required. Level Melee Damage and Weight for harvesting and combat; level Health for tanking. The Claw Strike is the key harvesting move — stop the bear, then use secondary attack. Its sprint stamina drain is very low, allowing nearly indefinite travel once speed builds. Base carry weight is 650.
What is the Dire Bear good for in ARK?
Giant Bee Honey harvesting at 3x rate without hive aggression, Organic Polymer gathering (especially on Aberration), overland travel mount, general combat war mount, all-purpose heavy transport.

How do I spawn a tamed Dire Bear at a specific level?
Use cheat gmsummon "Direbear_Character_BP_C" <level>. The number is the pre-tame level — ARK adds up to a 50% taming bonus, so a value of 100 ends up around level 150. To hit a target level, divide it by 1.5. A gmsummon creature still needs a saddle to ride.
What's the difference between summon, SummonTamed and gmsummon?
summon drops a wild Dire Bear at a random level. SummonTamed gives you a tamed one but at a random level you can't set. gmsummon spawns it tamed at the level you specify — the one most people want.
Do ARK spawn commands work in single player and on servers?
Yes. In single player the cheat prefix is optional and no password is needed. On a dedicated or non-dedicated session you must run enablecheats <ServerAdminPassword> once, then prefix each spawn with cheat. Set that admin password without hand-editing files using our free ARK config generators.
