Spawn a tamed Deinonychus at any level

gmsummon spawns it already tamed. Set the level below — it's the pre-tame level, and ARK adds up to a 50% taming bonus on top, so the final creature lands higher. Change the number, copy, paste.

ARK Deinonychus FAQ — Ability, Uses & Spawn Commands

What does the Deinonychus do in ARK?
A bite that applies a stackable bleed (up to 5 stacks, scaling with melee damage up to 700%), the ability to latch onto walls and larger creatures and bite while attached, and a Pack Roar (pack leader only) that buffs up to 6 allied Deinonychus for 45 seconds — increasing melee damage, attack speed, damage resistance, and movement speed. Deinonychus is a carnivore. Cannot be tamed as a wild adult — only obtainable by stealing and hatching eggs from nests. Incubation requires 80–90°C (176–194°F). Found on Valguero and Fjordur, primarily in cliff regions. Can latch onto approximately 50+ large creature types.
How do you use the Deinonychus's ability in ARK?
Bite is left-click / RT / R2 / ZR (0.6s cooldown). Jump / Climb / Latch is Space / A / Cross — hold against a wall or large creature to attach, then bite while latched. Pack Roar is C / Right Stick, available only to the highest-level Deinonychus in the group (the pack leader). The pack leader also passively receives +25% melee damage and +12.5% damage resistance. Level Melee Damage for bleed output — all 5 bleed stacks scale with melee %. A single Deinonychus attacking relentlessly can apply all 5 stacks on its own. Run packs of 6+ with a high-level pack leader to trigger the Roar buff and bleed procs on unridden pack members. Deinonychus bleed uniquely applies to bosses, making it excellent for boss farming. Avoid water — it handles it poorly.
What is the Deinonychus good for in ARK?
Boss fighting (bleed works on bosses, rare among bleed effects), pack combat, cave delving (climbing ability), artifact retrieval.

How do I spawn a tamed Deinonychus at a specific level?
Use cheat gmsummon "Deinonychus_Character_BP_C" <level>. The number is the pre-tame level — ARK adds up to a 50% taming bonus, so a value of 100 ends up around level 150. To hit a target level, divide it by 1.5. A gmsummon creature still needs a saddle to ride.
What's the difference between summon, SummonTamed and gmsummon?
summon drops a wild Deinonychus at a random level. SummonTamed gives you a tamed one but at a random level you can't set. gmsummon spawns it tamed at the level you specify — the one most people want.
Do ARK spawn commands work in single player and on servers?
Yes. In single player the cheat prefix is optional and no password is needed. On a dedicated or non-dedicated session you must run enablecheats <ServerAdminPassword> once, then prefix each spawn with cheat. Set that admin password without hand-editing files using our free ARK config generators.
