All ARK Survival Ascended Valguero Cave & Artifact Locations
Valguero packs 10 artifacts across redwoods, ice peaks, volcanic cliffs, and a full Aberration-style trench — including three artifacts you won't find anywhere on The Island: the Crag, the Destroyer, and the Gatekeeper. Coordinates cross-checked against multiple current ASA sources, with conflicts flagged honestly instead of papered over.

The Spider Cave / The Lair
Artifacts of the Strong, Immune, and Pack · Entrance ~74.2, 42.7
Valguero's signature artifact run. The Spider Cave (also called The Lair) sits in the Broodmother's nest area around 74.2, 42.7 and is the only cave on the map holding three artifacts at once — Strong, Immune, and Pack. That makes it the single most efficient artifact stop in the game if you can survive it.
The route splits inside:
- Strong — follow the main path past the central pillar room, through the cobweb tunnel, to a bridge with a gap in the middle. The artifact is at the end of that path.
- Immune — same path as Strong, but at the bridge-with-a-gap, drop down to the orange mushrooms instead of going forward. That opens into a big mushroom chamber holding the artifact.
- Pack — deepest of the three. Past the tree at the end, take the small passage, follow the glowing mushrooms left at the green light, across a ledge and a gap, then down to a small pool. Swim the left section up to surface at the artifact.
The cave is wall-to-wall Araneo swarms, leeches, Meganeura, and poison gas, with the Broodmother lurking as the boss-tier threat. A Megatherium is the standout mount here — its insect-damage buff shreds the spiders — and a Gas Mask is non-negotiable.
Pro tip: Knock out all three artifacts in one run since they share the cave. Bring bug repellent on top of the Gas Mask, and drop a campfire at the entrance — leeches detach from heat. Three artifacts, one trip, if you plan the route.
The Lost Temple Map & Location
Artifacts of the Brute + Devourer
Lat 46.8, Lon 87.3
The Lost Temple is a dual-artifact cave on the eastern side of the map. Start from the Green Obelisk and fly toward the cliff — the temple is hidden between the trees at 46.8, 87.3. Press the button near the stairs to enter.
Brute is the more straightforward of the two: from the big room with the broken bridge, fly over the water and turn left into a passageway with a tree in the middle. Take the right path to a water cave, follow it around, and the artifact is in a larger cavern at the end.
Devourer is hidden in the same temple via a secret passage. At the tree in the middle, go left and land near the wall — break it with a metal pick to open a hidden corridor. Follow it to a cave where your mount dismounts you into water, then use grappling or climbing hooks to reach the artifact tucked in the ceiling.
Pro tip: Some players report the Lost Temple artifacts are finicky about spawning unless you enter on foot rather than flying straight in. If you arrive and the artifact isn't there, dismount at the entrance and walk in. Bring climbing picks specifically for the Devourer's ceiling grab.
Artifact of the Crag ★ Valguero-exclusive
Mountain lava cave
Lat 34.2, Lon 51.4
One of Valguero's three map-exclusive artifacts — you won't find the Crag on The Island. The cave entrance is in the mountain area at 34.2, 51.4. Fly in and stick to the left path, hugging the wall, until you reach a fork — take the left turn into a large lava-filled opening. The artifact sits across a chasm, so use a grapple to clear the gaps over the magma.
Pro tip: The Crag is needed for Valguero's boss summons alongside the standard artifacts, so don't skip it just because it's unfamiliar from other maps. The lava room means heat management — don't linger.
Artifact of the Destroyer ★ Valguero-exclusive
White Cliff / obelisk high point
81.2, 88.1 (disputed)
Another Valguero-exclusive. The Destroyer isn't in a cave — it's an open-air, high-elevation grab. Start in the White Cliff area at 81.2, 88.1, then head north to the high cliff near the obelisk. Fly to the cliff's highest point and the artifact is waiting at 67.1, 89.1.
Heads up — conflicting coordinates: Sources disagree on the Destroyer's location. Several guides place it in the White Cliff / obelisk area (the ~81/88 route above), but at least one current source instead lists it in an icy cave on the opposite, southwestern side of the map near the Cunning. The White Cliff location is the more commonly cited one, but if it comes up empty, the artifact may be in the icy southwest instead. Worth an in-game check — if you've confirmed it on current ASA,
let us know.
Pro tip: This is one of the easier artifacts on Valguero if flyers are allowed on your server — it's mostly a navigation/altitude challenge, not a combat one. On no-fly servers it gets much harder; you'll need a climbing route up the cliffs.
Artifact of the Gatekeeper ★ Valguero-exclusive
Underground Aberration trench
Lat 32.3, Lon 92.4
The third Valguero-exclusive, tucked in the map's underground Aberration-style trench. The cave entrance is at 32.3, 92.4. Head down the waterfall to a room with a tech ramp, stay on the left, and fly toward the yellow crystal area. Keep going left until you reach a small blue window on the ground floor — the artifact is right in front of it.
Pro tip: The trench disables flying in parts and is genuine Aberration territory — bring a glow pet for the darkness and watch for radiation zones. This is the most "different" artifact run on the map; treat it like an
Aberration cave, not a Valguero one.
Artifact of the Cunning Map & Location
Snow Biome cave
Lat 15.4, Lon 27.3
The Cunning cave entrance is in the Snow Biome at 15.4, 27.3. Follow the crystal inside and get to the room with a ramp — the artifact is tucked behind a rock there.
Pro tip: Cold management is the real fight here, same as any Valguero snow cave. Fur armor plus Fria Curry keeps you alive longer than raw combat stats will.
Artifact of the Skylord Map & Location
Snow biome / Wyvern Trench area
08.5, 81.3 (disputed)
The Skylord is in the snow biome toward the top-right corner of the map. Enter the Wyvern Trench area, fly toward the lava falls and into the cave, take the left path, and fly down to find the artifact in the lower area.
Heads up — conflicting coordinates: This is the one Valguero artifact where sources genuinely disagree on the exact spot. Guides variously list it around
08.5, 81.3 (top-right snow/Wyvern Trench),
78.3, 90.4, and
15.3, 27.2. The "snow biome near the Wyvern Trench, top-right of the map" description is the most consistent thread across sources. If your first coordinate comes up empty, check the others. If you've confirmed the right one on current ASA,
let us know and we'll lock it down.
How many artifacts are on Valguero in ARK: Survival Ascended?
Valguero has
10 artifacts. Three are Valguero-exclusive — the
Crag,
Destroyer, and
Gatekeeper — which don't exist on The Island. The other seven are Strong, Immune, and Pack (all in the
Spider Cave), Brute and Devourer (both in the
Lost Temple), Cunning (Snow Biome), and Skylord (snow / Wyvern Trench area).
Where is the Spider Cave on Valguero?
The
Spider Cave (also called The Lair) is in the Broodmother's nest area around
74.2, 42.7. It holds three artifacts at once — Strong, Immune, and Pack — and is full of Araneo swarms, leeches, and poison gas. Bring a Megatherium for the insect-damage bonus and a Gas Mask for the gas.
What are the Valguero-exclusive artifacts?
Valguero adds three artifacts not found on The Island: the Crag (mountain lava cave at 33.5, 51.7), the Destroyer (White Cliff obelisk area, start at 81.2, 88.1), and the Gatekeeper (underground Aberration trench at 32.3, 92.4). They're used alongside the standard artifacts to summon Valguero's bosses.
Does Valguero have deep-sea loot crates?
Yes. They spawn in the large central lake and coastal/swamp waters, clustered roughly around 35–54 latitude by 18–37 longitude. Only a couple are active at once and they respawn on ~45-minute timers. Bring SCUBA gear to spot the red glow and a fast aquatic mount to run the route.
Can you do Valguero artifact runs solo?
Most are solo-doable with prep. The Spider Cave (Strong/Immune/Pack) is reasonable on a Megatherium. The Lost Temple and snow-biome caves are punishing but possible. The Gatekeeper's Aberration trench and the Destroyer's cliff climb are more about navigation than combat. Bring backup mounts in cryopods and drop a bed near each entrance.
Why won't the Lost Temple artifacts spawn?
Community reports suggest the
Lost Temple artifacts (Brute and Devourer) can fail to spawn if you fly straight into the cave. If you arrive and the artifact isn't there, dismount at the entrance and walk in on foot. This isn't universal, but it's a common enough fix to try first.
