⚔️ ARK: Survival Ascended · Astraeos Cave Guide

All ARK Survival Ascended Astraeos Cave & Artifact Locations

Astraeos is the Greek-myth megamap — marble temples, cherry blossom groves, a volcano island, and since the February 2026 update, the brutal Pyranthos desert. That's 13 artifacts across four boss fights, dozens of caves, and one nasty Aberration-style blue zone that melts unprepared survivors. Below are every artifact's coords, the full cave-entrance roster, and which boss each artifact feeds. Cave entrances are verified against the official ARK wiki; artifact coords are noted by confidence so you know what's battle-tested and what's freshly mapped.

A quick honesty note on coords. Astraeos is a newer map and the official ARK wiki doesn't yet plot its artifact markers, so the artifact coordinates here come from the strongest community sources available. The original 6 artifacts are well-documented and corroborated. The 7 Pyranthos artifacts (added Feb 2026) currently rest on fewer sources — they're accurate to the best available data, but we've flagged them ⚑ Verify in-game so you know to confirm before a long trek. Cave entrances are pulled straight from the official wiki map and are solid.

Which Artifact Summons Which Boss

Astraeos splits its 13 artifacts across four encounters. Grab the set for the boss you're after — you don't need all 13 at once.

The Original 6 Artifacts (Thodes & Natrix)

These six shipped with Astraeos and feed the two guardian bosses. They're the most documented and the best place to start.

Artifact of the Brute

Underwater cave · off the Therokis coast
Entrance 48.6, 49.8
DifficultyHard
Best ApproachSCUBA / Lazarus Chowder, then on foot
HazardsLong underwater swim, cave creatures, glitchy puzzle
GearSCUBA gear, ranged weapon, light source

Dive off the Therokis coast and look for the underwater entrance around 48.6, 49.8. The cave is lengthy — keep swimming through until you resurface into a hall lined with Greek statues.

At the end is a pedestal puzzle: interact with the bases of the statues to light their fires, and the sealed door opens onto the artifact. The puzzle can be glitchy, so if a pedestal doesn't register, back off and re-interact rather than assuming you've missed a step.

Pro tip: Bring enough oxygen for the swim in and out — the resurfacing room can lull you into burning air before the trip back. A SCUBA tank or Lazarus Chowder removes the guesswork.

Artifact of the Devourer

Surface cave · eastern Phokintos
Entrance 21.8, 43.3
DifficultyMedium
Best ApproachOn foot, follow the path down
HazardsCave enemies, drop into crystal room
GearMelee/ranged weapon, armor, light pet

The Devourer cave is on the eastern side of Phokintos at 21.8, 43.3. It's a surface entrance with a prominent opening, so it's one of the easier ones to find.

Follow the path downward into a room with statues. From the first door, take a hard right, then an immediate left, then right. You'll reach a room with a crystal growing from the floor and a hole in the center — drop down carefully (mind the rocks), take the first left, follow to the stairs, climb, turn right, descend, and go straight to the end before turning right into the artifact room.

Pro tip: The route reads like a maze but it's consistent — the crystal-and-hole room is your halfway landmark. If you hit it, you're on track.

Artifact of the Pack

Lava cave · south Therokis
Entrance 67.4, 62.9
DifficultyHard
Best ApproachGrapple/parachute for the final drop
HazardsLava, high-level creatures, confusing layout
GearGrapple hook or parachute, heat protection, strong weapon

Head to the south side of Therokis and find the entrance at 67.4, 62.9. This cave is genuinely confusing and packed with high-level creatures, so stay on the path to avoid wandering into a fight you didn't plan for.

Inside, follow the path to a crossroads and take the left — flowing lava acts as a handy direction marker. Keep straight, pass an arch and more lava pools, then enter a smaller cave. Keep right as you advance and you'll exit into an open area. From there you can either follow the curving path to the bottom, or grapple/parachute straight down. Watch the lava either way.

Pro tip: A grapple hook turns the final descent from a careful lava-dodge into a five-second drop. Bring heat/fire resistance — the lava chambers chip away at you even when you're not standing in it.

Artifact of the Massive

Hidden cave · heart of Korinthos
Entrance 37.4, 22.5
DifficultyVery Hard
Best ApproachGrapple hook mandatory for the puzzle
HazardsHeavy enemy rooms, 3-button puzzle, underwater finish
GearGrappling hook, SCUBA gear, armor, strong weapon

The Massive sits in the heart of Korinthos at 37.4, 22.5. The entrance blends into the landscape, so trust the coords. Inside, head to the statue and take the stairs down to the room below.

Clear the enemies, then find the pedestal on the first pillar to the left of the doorway and interact with it to unlock the next room. In the scaffold room, stick to the left until you reach a doorway, take the first right, and follow it to the artifact room — which is a three-button puzzle. Button one is a pedestal at the end of the room; button two is above the scaffolding on the left as you enter; button three is high on the right side, reachable only with a grappling hook. Hit all three and an underwater passage opens — swim to the end for the artifact.

Pro tip: Don't even start this one without a grapple hook and oxygen gear. The third button is unreachable otherwise, and the finish is a swim. It's the most gear-gated of the original six.

Artifact of the Clever

Underwater cave · between Korinthos & Phokintos
Entrance 24.5, 23.9
DifficultyMedium
Best ApproachSCUBA gear, follow the glow
HazardsUnderwater entry, trench descent
GearSCUBA gear, light source, weapon

The Clever is underwater between Korinthos and Phokintos, entrance at 24.5, 23.9. Once inside, follow the path to a crossroads marked by a giant boulder.

Keep left, descend into the trench, and turn left at the bottom. After you exit into a new section, look across for a purple glowing entrance — use it as your beacon. The artifact is inside that small glowing cave.

Pro tip: The purple glow is unmistakable once you're in the right section, so if you're not seeing it, you've taken a wrong turn at the boulder — backtrack and keep left.

Artifact of the Hunter

Waterfall cave · NW edge of Korinthos
Entrance 29.9, 9.5
DifficultyHard
Best ApproachGrapple hook for the gaps
HazardsNarrow ledges, jump gaps, guardian creatures
GearGrappling hook, armor, ranged weapon

On the northwestern edge of Korinthos, find the entrance next to two scenic waterfalls at 29.9, 9.5 — you pass the falls to reach it. (This is the Natrix/Medusa set's signature cave.)

Follow the path to a bridge, cross it, keep left, and use the giant mushroom as a landmark. There's a narrow offbeat path on the left — take it, and you'll reach a gap you must jump or grapple across. Continue, clear another gap the same way, then follow the path left, fighting through creatures including the two guarding the artifact itself.

Pro tip: A grapple hook makes both gaps trivial and saves you from a fall reset. Save your stamina for the two guardians at the end rather than the platforming.

The 7 Pyranthos Artifacts (Hydraskos & Manticore)

The Mega Update added a desert nearly half the size of Valguero, with 5 new artifact caves feeding the Hydra and Manticore fights. These coords are newer — confirm in-game before committing to a long desert trek.

Artifact of the Strong ⚑ Verify

Miniboss drop · defeat the Minotarchos
~91, 74
DifficultyVery Hard
Best ApproachCombat-ready — this is a boss, not a grab
HazardsMinotarchos miniboss, hour-long respawn cooldown
GearA combat mount, strong weapons, full armor

Unlike the cave artifacts, the Strong is earned by defeating the Minotarchos, a new Pyranthos miniboss, around ~91, 74. Treat it as a fight to prep for, not a quick pickup.

The Minotarchos has a roughly hour-long respawn cooldown, so don't expect to farm it repeatedly in one sitting — come prepared to win on the first attempt. Bring a capable combat mount and enough firepower to close the fight quickly.

Pro tip: Because of the cooldown, the Strong is the artifact most worth scouting ahead of time. Confirm the Minotarchos spawn location on your server before you haul a war mount across the desert.

Artifact of the Cunning ⚑ Verify

Underwater cave · Pyranthos
~80.8, 71.9
DifficultyHard
Best ApproachSCUBA gear, watch for ocean predators
HazardsUnderwater entry, sea creatures
GearSCUBA gear, light source, weapon

The Cunning is an underwater cave around ~80.8, 71.9. As with the other water caves, bring oxygen gear and clear any predators near the mouth before you commit to the swim.

Pro tip: Stage a tame or raft near the entrance as an oxygen reset point so a longer-than-expected interior doesn't drown you on the way out.

Artifact of the Skylord ⚑ Verify

Pyranthos · Hydraskos set
~2.5, 97.6
DifficultyHard
Best ApproachFlyer to the far map corner
HazardsDesert exposure, distance
GearHeat protection, flyer, weapon

The Skylord sits in the far corner of Pyranthos around ~2.5, 97.6. This coordinate in particular is the least-corroborated of the set, so verify it on your own map before the trip — it's a long way out to the edge of the desert.

Pro tip: Pair this with the Immune run if their entrances are near each other on your server — both sit in the same general Pyranthos region, so one desert expedition can bag two.

Artifact of the Immune ⚑ Verify

Pyranthos · Hydraskos set
~30.7, 85.6
DifficultyHard
Best ApproachHeat-prepped desert run
HazardsDesert heat, Pyranthos creatures (Deathworms, Scorpion Kings)
GearHeat protection, water, strong mount

The Immune is at ~30.7, 85.6 in the Pyranthos dunes. The desert itself is the main threat here — Deathworms burrow beneath the sand and untamable Scorpion Kings and Queens roam the dunes, so treat the journey as seriously as the cave.

Pro tip: Carry plenty of water and heat protection. Pyranthos rewards fast, efficient runs — time lost to overheating or a Deathworm ambush is often worse than the cave itself.

Crag, Gatekeeper & Destroyer ⚑ Verify

Pyranthos · the Manticore set
Crag/Gatekeeper ~94, 79.2 · Destroyer ~94.4, 96.1
DifficultyHard
Best ApproachFlyer between the two sites
HazardsDesert exposure, Pyranthos predators
GearHeat protection, flyer, combat gear

The three Manticore-progression artifacts live in eastern Pyranthos. The Crag and Gatekeeper are reported close together around ~94, 79.2, and the Destroyer is to the north at ~94.4, 96.1. (These three reuse the classic Scorched Earth artifact names — fitting for a desert.)

Because the Crag and Gatekeeper sit so close, one stop can net both; confirm in-game whether they share a single cave or sit in adjacent entrances, as community reports group them together.

Pro tip: Run the Manticore set as one eastern-desert loop on a flyer — Crag and Gatekeeper first, then north to the Destroyer — rather than three separate trips across the dunes.

The Astraeos Aberration (Blue Zone) Cave — Why You're Taking Damage

☢️

Aberration Blue Zone Cave

Entrance ~6.5, 15.5 · charge / radiation zone

If you've wandered into the Astraeos Aberration cave and started losing health for no obvious reason — you're not bugged, and nothing is attacking you. The cave around ~6.5, 15.5 is an Aberration-style blue zone, which means the environment itself does continuous damage, exactly like the charged/irradiated zones on the Aberration map.

To survive inside, you need radiation protection — a Hazard Suit is the clean answer — and ideally a charge light pet (Bulbdog, Shinehorn, Featherlight) for the dark sections and to keep the Nameless-style threats at bay. Without protection, the damage tick will outrun your healing no matter how much food you bring.

Pro tip: If you only remember one thing: don't go in without a Hazard Suit. The blue glow is the warning. This is the single most-searched Astraeos cave question, and the answer is almost always "you skipped the radiation gear."

Astraeos Cave Survival Tactics

Common Questions about Astraeos Artifacts & Caves

How many artifacts are on Astraeos in ARK: Survival Ascended?
Astraeos has 13 artifacts. The original 6 — Brute, Devourer, Pack, Massive, Clever, and Hunter — summon the guardian bosses Thodes and Natrix. The February 2026 Pyranthos update added 7 more (Skylord, Immune, Strong, Cunning, and the Crag, Gatekeeper, and Destroyer) tied to the new Hydraskos and Manticore fights.
Where is the Astraeos Aberration cave, and why do I take damage there?
The Aberration blue zone cave is near ~6.5, 15.5. You take continuous damage inside because it's a radiation/charge zone modelled on Aberration — the environment hurts you, not enemies. Bring a Hazard Suit (radiation protection) and a charge light pet to survive it. It's not a bug.
What are the Astraeos artifact cave locations and coordinates?
Original 6: Brute ~48.6, 49.8; Devourer ~21.8, 43.3; Pack ~67.4, 62.9; Massive ~37.4, 22.5; Clever ~24.5, 23.9; Hunter ~29.9, 9.5. Pyranthos: Skylord ~2.5, 97.6; Immune ~30.7, 85.6; Strong ~91, 74 (Minotarchos drop); Cunning ~80.8, 71.9; Crag & Gatekeeper ~94, 79.2; Destroyer ~94.4, 96.1. The Pyranthos coords are newer — worth confirming in-game. Full details are in the sections above.
Which bosses do the Astraeos artifacts summon?
The original 6 feed Thodes (the Cyclops) and Natrix (the Gorgon / Medusa fight). The Pyranthos update added Hydraskos the Unbroken — a five-headed Hydra that unlocks dragon TEK engrams — and the Manticore, plus the Minotarchos miniboss that drops the Strong artifact. There's also a world boss, Thanatos the Destroyer.
Are there underwater caves on Astraeos?
Yes. Several artifact caves are underwater — the Brute (~48.6, 49.8), the Clever (~24.5, 23.9), and the Pyranthos Cunning (~80.8, 71.9). The map also has numbered open-water caves (Underwater Cave 1–5) around the coasts. Bring SCUBA gear or Lazarus Chowder and watch for Megalodons near the entrances.
Can you do Astraeos artifact runs solo?
Yes — most of the original 6 are solo-friendly with a grapple hook (Massive, Hunter), SCUBA gear (Brute, Clever), and a mount left at the entrance. The Pyranthos artifacts are tougher: the Strong needs you to beat the Minotarchos miniboss, and the blue zone cave needs radiation protection. Bring a light pet, a grapple, and a respawn point near each entrance.
What's the difference between the free and paid Astraeos?
The free version lets you try the Greek-myth setting, but the paid DLC is the full experience — it added the Lemnokis landmass, the Pyranthos desert, and the extra bosses (Manticore, Hydraskos, Minotarchos) along with their artifact caves. Most of the artifacts and caves on this page are part of the expanded paid map.
