Spawn a tamed Megatherium at any level

gmsummon spawns it already tamed. Set the level below — it's the pre-tame level, and ARK adds up to a 50% taming bonus on top, so the final creature lands higher. Change the number, copy, paste.

ARK Megatherium FAQ — Ability, Uses & Spawn Commands

What does the Megatherium do in ARK?
Passively deals 50% bonus damage to all insects and arthropods. On killing one, it gains the Insect Killer buff for 120 seconds: damage multiplied by 250% to all targets (375% total against insects), plus roughly 75% damage reduction. During this buff it enters an enraged state and may attack nearby allies. Megatherium is a omnivore (tamed with superior kibble or mantis egg kibble; also accepts raw mutton and most meats). Preferred Broodmother boss mount — the Insect Killer buff stacks against all her Araneo minion spawns. During buff enrage state it can attack allied players and tames — plan positioning accordingly.
How do you use the Megatherium's ability in ARK?
The 50% insect damage bonus and Insect Killer buff both trigger passively — just attack any insect or arthropod (Meganeura, Giant Bee, Titanomyrma, Mantis, Araneo, Arthropleura, Pulmonoscorpius, Trilobite). No radial menu required. Be aware: when the buff is active, tribemates and ally tames nearby may be attacked — keep them clear during the enraged window. For chitin farming, 200%+ Melee Damage yields 200+ chitin per scorpion. A level 100+ specimen with no post-tame leveling can clear the Swamp Cave reliably. Priority stats: Melee Damage (scales chitin yield and buff damage), Stamina, Weight. The Insect Killer enrage is a risk — trigger it intentionally then keep players away. Ideal Broodmother boss team member due to the buff stacking against her and her Araneo minions.

For a tamed one at a level you choose, use cheat gmsummon "Megatherium_Character_BP_C" 150. On a server, run enablecheats <ServerAdminPassword> first and keep the cheat prefix.
How do I spawn a tamed Megatherium at a specific level?
Use cheat gmsummon "Megatherium_Character_BP_C" <level>. The number is the pre-tame level — ARK adds up to a 50% taming bonus, so a value of 100 ends up around level 150. To hit a target level, divide it by 1.5. A gmsummon creature still needs a saddle to ride.
What's the difference between summon, SummonTamed and gmsummon?
summon drops a wild Megatherium at a random level. SummonTamed gives you a tamed one but at a random level you can't set. gmsummon spawns it tamed at the level you specify — the one most people want.
Do ARK spawn commands work in single player and on servers?
Yes. In single player the cheat prefix is optional and no password is needed. On a dedicated or non-dedicated session you must run enablecheats <ServerAdminPassword> once, then prefix each spawn with cheat. Set that admin password without hand-editing files using our free ARK config generators.
