ARK Pteranodon Spawn Command

Performs a Barrel Roll (aileron roll) that grants a short burst of speed and increased damage at the cost of stamina, and can grab and carry small creatures using its legs while in flight. Pteranodon is a carnivore. One of the first flying mounts available to players. Can be Bola'd on the ground for an easy knockout tame. The barrel roll gives a speed burst but costs significant stamina.

Barrel Roll: press C / Right Stick while flying. Grab: press Right-Click / LT / L2 / ZL while flying or hovering over a target — the Pteranodon swings its legs forward and a click sound confirms a successful grab. The grabbed creature trails behind the Pteranodon and its name/level is visible. Neither ability is in the radial menu. The barrel roll can be chained to create distance from pursuing Wyverns or other fliers — it provides a brief speed increase at the cost of stamina, so level Stamina if you intend to use it frequently. Level Stamina and Weight for scouts; level Stamina, Health, Melee, and a little Weight for combat/carry builds. The Pteranodon cannot carry very large creatures; it is best for grabbing small wild animals for taming traps or relocating small tames. Immobilize a wild Pteranodon with a Bola while it rests on the ground — it is one of the easiest knockouts in the game.

Early aerial travel (fastest basic flier), baiting and leading wild creatures into taming traps, grabbing and relocating small creatures, scouting dangerous areas at speed.

Open the console with ~ and enter cheat summon Ptero_Character_BP_C to spawn a wild Pteranodon in ARK: Survival Ascended. For a tamed one at a level you choose, use cheat gmsummon "Ptero_Character_BP_C" 150. On a server, run enablecheats <ServerAdminPassword> first and keep the cheat prefix.

Use the builder above, or cheat gmsummon "Ptero_Character_BP_C" <level>. The number is the pre-tame level. ARK adds up to a 50% taming bonus, so a value of 100 ends up around level 150. To hit a target level, divide it by 1.5. A gmsummon creature still needs a saddle to ride.

summon drops a wild Pteranodon at a random level. SummonTamed gives you a tamed one but at a random level you can't set. gmsummon spawns it tamed at the level you specify, the one most people want.

Yes. In single player the cheat prefix is optional and no password is needed. On a dedicated or non-dedicated session you must run enablecheats <ServerAdminPassword> once, then prefix each spawn with cheat. Set that admin password without hand-editing files using our free ARK config generators.
