Spawn a tamed Oviraptor at any level

gmsummon spawns it already tamed. Set the level below — it's the pre-tame level, and ARK adds up to a 50% taming bonus on top, so the final creature lands higher. Change the number, copy, paste.

What does the Oviraptor do in ARK?
When wandering, the Oviraptor emits a pheromone that boosts egg production: the egg-laying interval for nearby allied females drops from 17 minutes to 11 minutes. It also automatically collects eggs from allied tames within a range that scales with the Oviraptor's overall level, and can steal eggs from wild creatures without angering them. Oviraptor is a carnivore (ovivore in practice — eats eggs). Knockout-tamed (despite being skittish/fearful, it is knocked out not passive-tamed). Very common on most maps. Despite the name 'Oviraptor' meaning 'egg thief,' the real-world animal is now understood to have been guarding eggs, not stealing them — ARK plays the original misconception straight.
How do you use the Oviraptor's ability in ARK?
Set the Oviraptor to Wander mode — the egg-laying boost and egg collection only activate while it is wandering. The auto-collection range scales with total creature level using a defined formula (confirmed on wiki for ASA). Wild egg theft is fully passive as it walks near nests. No radial menu ability to activate — it is entirely behavior-based. Note: it cannot auto-collect Bunny Eggs, Deinonychus Eggs, Magmasaur Eggs, Rock Drake Eggs, or Wyvern Eggs. Higher-level Oviraptor = larger egg-collection radius around its body. Keep it wandering inside or near your breeding pens at all times. It is not a combat or riding creature (not rideable), so it serves purely as a passive farm booster. Pair with a large breeding setup to maximize the value of the reduced egg-laying timer.
What is the Oviraptor good for in ARK?
Egg farming (all standard tame eggs), kibble production, keeping a steady supply of unfertilized eggs, and passively stealing wild creature eggs without triggering aggro.
What is the Oviraptor spawn command in ARK?
Open the console with ~ and enter cheat summon Oviraptor_Character_BP_C to spawn a wild Oviraptor in ARK: Survival Ascended. For a tamed one at a level you choose, use cheat gmsummon "Oviraptor_Character_BP_C" 150. On a server, run enablecheats <ServerAdminPassword> first and keep the cheat prefix.
How do I spawn a tamed Oviraptor at a specific level?
Use cheat gmsummon "Oviraptor_Character_BP_C" <level>. The number is the pre-tame level — ARK adds up to a 50% taming bonus, so a value of 100 ends up around level 150. To hit a target level, divide it by 1.5. A gmsummon creature still needs a saddle to ride.
What's the difference between summon, SummonTamed and gmsummon?
summon drops a wild Oviraptor at a random level. SummonTamed gives you a tamed one but at a random level you can't set. gmsummon spawns it tamed at the level you specify — the one most people want.
Do ARK spawn commands work in single player and on servers?
Yes. In single player the cheat prefix is optional and no password is needed. On a dedicated or non-dedicated session you must run enablecheats <ServerAdminPassword> once, then prefix each spawn with cheat. Set that admin password without hand-editing files using our free ARK config generators.
