ARK Jug Bug Spawn Command

Regenerating resource sac: the creature passively fills an abdominal sac with either Water (green variant, up to 100 units) or Oil (red variant, up to 16 units). Players can extract the resource without killing it, and the sac refills over time — making it a renewable resource source when penned. Jug Bug is a herbivore; cannot be tamed. Found on Scorched Earth and several DLC maps. Cannot be tamed — must be trapped or corralled to farm sustainably. Killing yields Chitin in addition to the water or oil.

Interact via the radial menu on the living creature to drain its sac non-lethally. Killing it also yields the resource but destroys the renewable supply. The sac refills passively over time when left alive. When the sac is full, the creature moves slower — use this window to catch or contain it. Pen multiple Jug Bugs (they cannot be tamed, so construct a trap or enclosure to keep them) for a sustainable Water and Oil source without supply runs. Green variants for Water, red for Oil. Do not kill them — the renewable drain is far more valuable than a one-time drop. In dangerous terrain, use bolas or a grappling hook to slow or stop them before draining.

Open the console with ~ and enter cheat summon Jugbug_Character_BaseBP_C to spawn a wild Jug Bug in ARK: Survival Ascended. For a tamed one at a level you choose, use cheat gmsummon "Jugbug_Character_BaseBP_C" 150. On a server, run enablecheats <ServerAdminPassword> first and keep the cheat prefix.

Use the builder above, or cheat gmsummon "Jugbug_Character_BaseBP_C" <level>. The number is the pre-tame level. ARK adds up to a 50% taming bonus, so a value of 100 ends up around level 150. To hit a target level, divide it by 1.5. A gmsummon creature still needs a saddle to ride.

The saddle comes as a separate cheat gfi command (it can't ride inside the spawn). To set its colours, spawn it first, then use the ARK Dino Color Builder to build the SetTargetDinoColor commands (with a live preview).

summon drops a wild Jug Bug at a random level. SummonTamed gives you a tamed one but at a random level you can't set. gmsummon spawns it tamed at the level you specify, the one most people want.

Yes. In single player the cheat prefix is optional and no password is needed. On a dedicated or non-dedicated session you must run enablecheats <ServerAdminPassword> once, then prefix each spawn with cheat. Set that admin password without hand-editing files using our free ARK config generators.
