How Palworld dungeons work

Regular dungeons are procedurally-generated caves — different from Alpha field bosses, Tower bosses and Sealed Realms.

Heads-up: dungeon entrances rotate and respawn, so a given spot won't always be active. Use the coordinates below as the known candidate locations, and a current community/interactive map for whatever's live right now.

Dungeon types by level

Each cavern type shares a biome boss pool — the guaranteed Alpha waiting at the end comes from it. Sorted roughly by level.

Palworld dungeons FAQ

How long does a Palworld dungeon stay open?
299 minutes — about 5 hours — from when it opens, then it closes. Some guides round this to 300; 299 is the precise figure. The timer keeps running even while you're logged out, so dungeons cycle on and off when you're not playing. Once you're inside you can finish at your own pace, even if you entered with only minutes left.
Are dungeon locations random or fixed?
Both, in a way. Entrances spawn from a fixed set of predetermined candidate spots that are always in the same places — but only a limited number are active at any time. When one closes, another opens elsewhere on the 299-minute cycle. So the coordinate lists you'll find (including ours) are known candidate spots, not guaranteed live pins. Check your in-game map for what's currently active before a run.
Do dungeons reopen after they close, and how do I keep them spawning?
Yes — a closed dungeon reopens later at the same fixed location; it's not gone for good. Reopening is gated by how many OTHER dungeons in the world have closed rather than a simple timer. The community trick is to actively clear around 20 dungeons to keep a constant rotation going, so there's always something fresh to farm.
Can I reroll a dungeon's final boss if I don't like it?
Yes. The end Alpha is randomized from that dungeon's biome pool. If you want a different one, back up to the previous room (often described as a room or two, or about 3 rooms) and re-approach to respawn a new boss. Rerolls are effectively unlimited, though the same boss can occasionally come up again. You can kill OR capture the boss to clear the dungeon.
Why are dungeons worth farming?
They're the most efficient single loop in the game. The final Alpha gives roughly 2x the XP of its overworld version, drops guaranteed Ancient Civilization Parts for ancient tech and Pal Gear, and each dungeon ends with two guaranteed chests (plus extras on the route) holding schematics, accessories, Skill Fruits, gold, gems, and tech manuals. Some Pals — like Mau and Killamari — can only be found inside dungeons. Since the Feybreak update, first-time Alpha kills also drop Pal Bounty Tokens for permanent passive damage bonuses.
How are dungeons different from Sealed Realms, Tower Bosses, and Raid Bosses?
Regular dungeons use white cave icons and are explore-and-clear mazes ending in one Alpha boss. Sealed Realms use red icons and a teleporter that drops you straight into a single tougher Alpha fight — no maze. Tower Bosses are fixed, story-gated human+Pal duo fights inside the world's towers that unlock progression. Raid Bosses (Bellanoir, Moon Lord, Xenolord) are endgame events you summon at your base with an altar and a slab item — not map caves at all.
