Palworld Journal Locations — All 49, Checklisted

Every journal in the game — the 23-entry Castaway's Journal, all six tower-boss diaries, and the Sakurajima and Feybreak sets most guides still don't have — each with coordinates, as a tap-to-check tracker saved in your browser. Collect 40 of the 49 and the Trail of the Castaway achievement is yours, with nine to spare.

How Journals Work

Journals are glowing blue tablets on small pedestals scattered across the world — walk up, interact, and the entry is yours forever (readable any time under ESC → Journals). They carry the game's actual backstory: a shipwrecked castaway's survival arc and the personal history of every tower boss. Two things worth knowing before you hunt: collection is per-character, not per-world, and an already-collected pedestal looks almost identical to an empty Lifmunk Effigy stand — if you're doing both hunts (you should; they overlap heavily), don't waste time revisiting the wrong kind of empty pedestal.

Two entries you can stop hunting: Castaway's Journal Day 70 and Day ?? exist in the game files but have no world spawn — they cannot be collected, by anyone, and they don't count against the achievement. If 1.0 finally places them on July 10, this page gets them the same week — we re-verify the whole set then.

Castaway's Journal (23) — the shipwreck story

The anonymous castaway whose arc mirrors your own — the set that gives the whole system its name. Entries read in Day order; collect in any order.

The Achievement Math

Trail of the Castaway pops at 40 notes — any 40. The efficient read: the base map alone holds 39, so one Sakurajima or Feybreak entry finishes it without a full island sweep. Or skip the three most annoying base-map climbs entirely and pull the difference from the islands. The trackers above keep count per set; your browser remembers between sessions.

Palworld Journals FAQ

How many journals are there?
49 collectible as of v0.7.3 — 23 Castaway's Journal + 16 boss-diary entries on the base map, 5 on Sakurajima (Saya), 5 on Feybreak (Bjorn). Two more exist in the files only (Day 70, Day ??) and cannot be collected.
What's the reward?
The Trail of the Castaway achievement at 40 notes — 9 spare. No item or cosmetic beyond the achievement and the lore itself.
Why can't I find Day 5?
It was bugged at launch and only became findable in v0.1.5.0 — old guides still call it unobtainable. It's at roughly (162, 449), on a lower ledge of the north cliff face — easiest to spot at night by the blue glow.
Do journals carry over between worlds?
Collection is per-character — the same character keeps their journals across worlds, but a fresh character starts at zero.
Does the checklist save my progress?
Yes — checked entries are saved in this browser on this device, per set, with a Reset button each. No account needed.
