Oblivion Console Commands & Item IDs

Every Oblivion console command worth knowing: god mode, add item, gold, level and skill boosts, spawning, quest fixes. Plus a searchable item, spell and Daedric-artifact ID tool so you're not digging through a wiki for codes. Same commands and Form IDs in the 2006 original and the 2025 Remastered. PC only. Search, copy, paste, done.

How to Open the Console in Oblivion (& Remastered)

1

PC only: the console exists on the PC release of both the 2006 original (Steam/GOG) and the 2025 Oblivion Remastered, not on Xbox or PlayStation. Load a save or start a new game.

2

Press the tilde key (~), just below Esc and left of the 1, to open it. Type a command and press Enter; commands aren't case-sensitive.

3

To target an NPC or object, open the console and click it. Its RefID shows at the top, and commands like kill or unlock now apply to it. Click again to deselect.

The #1 reason it won't open: the tilde key only maps to the console on US (ANSI) keyboards. On most international layouts a different physical key opens it, so try `, ², ^, |, < or @, or just rebind it. Remastered note: the 2025 version runs the same game logic under Unreal Engine 5, so every command and Form ID here works. The catch is that using any console command disables Steam achievements for that save session (the 2006 original doesn't lock achievements).

Item, Spell & Artifact ID Tool

Set a quantity, pick an item, spell or Daedric artifact, copy the exact player.additem / player.addspell command. Covers the most-searched gold, gear, artifacts, potions and spells. The commonly-used set, not every trivial misc item nobody looks up. These 8-hex Form IDs are the same in the original and the Remastered.

applies to items (spells ignore it)

All base-game Form IDs start 00. Gold, lockpicks, the Skeleton Key and repair hammers use short hardcoded IDs (F, A, B, C) and are shown padded to 8 digits. A few codes are marked verify: those are ones we couldn't triple-confirm against UESP, so treat them as best-effort and double-check in-game.

Pick an item, spell or artifact above.

Oblivion Commands FAQ

How do you open the console in Oblivion?
Press the tilde (~) key, just below Esc and left of the 1, during play on PC. There's no console on Xbox or PlayStation, and on non-US keyboards a different physical key may open it instead. This works the same in the 2006 original and the 2025 Oblivion Remastered.
Are the console commands the same in Oblivion Remastered?
Yes. The 2025 Oblivion Remastered runs the original game logic under an Unreal Engine 5 renderer, so it uses the same console, the same commands (tgm, player.additem, coc, setstage) and the same item Form IDs as the 2006 release. Everything on this page works in both. The one difference is that the Remastered locks Steam achievements for a save once you use a command.
What's the add item command in Oblivion?
player.additem [FormID] [amount]. So player.additem 0000000F 1000 adds 1,000 gold. Use the item-ID tool above to grab the code for any weapon, armor, spell, potion or Daedric artifact.
How do you add gold with console commands?
Gold uses the Form ID 0000000F (or just F). player.additem 0000000F 1000 gives you 1,000 gold. It's the same code as Skyrim's gold, if you've done this before.
What's the god mode command in Oblivion?
tgm toggles God Mode: infinite health, magicka, stamina and no encumbrance (carry-weight) limit. Run it again to turn it off.
Do console commands disable achievements in Oblivion?
In the 2006 original, no. In the 2025 Oblivion Remastered, using any console command disables Steam achievements for that save session, so cheat on a save you don't mind un-achieving.
