Deviants are the captured anomalies you put to work — some fight beside you, some run your base while you're offline, some craft gear you can't make any other way. Here's a tier list plus, more usefully, the best pick for each job and how to get it. One honest note up front: tiers are opinion-based and shift with balance patches, and a combat deviant and a base-automation deviant aren't really competing for the same slot — so read the roles, not just the letters.
A reconciled ranking across the freshest sources. Read it loosely: S-tier combat picks and S-tier base picks both sit at the top, but they do completely different jobs — a base-automation deviant in a lower row isn't "worse" than a combat one above it, it's just judged on a different axis.
| Tier | Deviants |
|---|---|
| S | Butterfly's Emissary, Mr. Wish, Lonewolf's Whisper, Festering Gel, Chefosaurus Rex, H37, Frog the Leaper |
| A | Zeno-Purifier, The Digby Boy, Electric Eel, Nutcracker |
| B | Logging Beaver, Growshroom, Dr. Teddy, Enchanting Void, Dreamcatcher, By the Wind, Harveseed, Fetch-a-lot Bunny |
| C | Buzzy Bee, Atomic Lighter, Space Turner, Polar Jelly, Lava Fox, Grumpy Bulb, Canine Skull, Gingerbread House |
These fight with you — damage, debuffs and survivability.
| Deviant | What it does | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Butterfly's Emissary | Auto-attacks and marks enemy weak spots, amplifying weak-spot damage — a big DPS uplift for zero effort. The default "just equip it" pick. | Free during the tutorial; farm more from Securement Silo – Alpha and the GAIA Research Center Ruins. |
| Mr. Wish | Rapid-fire ranged attacks that apply Bull's Eye — one of the highest sustained-damage combat deviants. | Drops from Securement Silo – Sigma (PvP servers). |
| Lonewolf's Whisper | Leaps in, draws aggro and boosts your weapon damage; killed enemies spawn wolf clones. A meta pick for shrapnel/burst builds. | Drops from the Shadow Hound boss. |
| Festering Gel | Defensive — restores HP and sanity and blocks incoming attacks on activation. Strong for endgame and Pro-mode bosses. | Defeat the Ravenous Hunter at the Monolith of Greed. |
| Zeno-Purifier | Teleporting "samurai" that blinks in with katana strikes scaling to your skill rating. | Reward for defeating 200 enemies with melee attacks. |
These earn their slot by running your base — passive gathering, power, buffs. The automation trio pays for itself fast.
| Deviant | What it does | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| The Digby Boy | Passively mines ore with no input when placed in an Isolated Securement Unit — the top resource-automation pick. (An S4 "Gravity Abyss" Morphed variant exists this season.) | Complete Lowe's "Deviation Expert" side quest. |
| Logging Beaver | The wood equivalent of Digby Boy — passive logging that pays off for build- and craft-heavy bases. | Capture from its deviation spawn in wooded areas. |
| Electric Eel | Acts as a living battery — raises your generator's power limit so more crafting stations run at once. | Capture from a water-area deviation. |
| Chefosaurus Rex | Improves all cooked-food effects — longevity, sanity gain, health gain. | Rare spawn in Securement Silo – Phi (PvE servers), or via Lowe's "There's a Dragon Here" side quest. |
| H37 | Passively surfaces rare, higher-rank materials and resources. | Complete H37's side quest. |
| Growshroom | Auto-plants seeds and accelerates crop growth (scales with Deviation Energy). | Farm mushrooms at Chalk Peak. |
| Frog the Leaper | Hands you free fishing bait and crafts "Spring Legs" for extra jump height. | Found near the bright-blue lily pads in ponds. |
