Sparks are Enshrouded's most important resource — you spend them at the Flame Altar to raise your Flame Level, which buys you Shroud survival time, deeper zones and more buildable base. They come from Flame Shrines and Flame Sanctums, and here's the part most guides get wrong: how many you get is set by the biome, not the shrine. Below is a tap-to-check Springlands checklist, the per-biome yield table, the full cost to hit max level, and every later-biome shrine we could pin down.
Sparks (the in-game "essence of the Flame") drop from two structure types, and both use the same map icon — a flame inside a yellow diamond:
This is the single most useful thing to know: a shrine's payout scales with the biome it sits in. All four sources agree on this ladder, so it's the most reliable number on the page. "One Spark per shrine" is a Springlands-only truth.

So a single Veilwater shrine is worth six Springlands shrines. Once Sparks respawn, that's where you farm to finish off the Flame Altar.
All Springlands shrines give 1 Spark. Sources agree on 13–14 structures here; two entries may be the same shrine described under different naming, so we list both and tag them — you'll know which once you're standing there. ⚠ Veilwater's flame progression is partly quest-gated (the "Veilwater Basin Flame Upgrade" quest wants a Hydrak'Dal Head) — verify these shrines grant standard 6-Spark pickups and aren't all tied to the quest.
Sparks go into "Strengthen the Flame" at your Flame Altar to raise your Flame Level — the wiki calls it the most important upgrade in the game. Each level adds Shroud survival time (~+1 min/level), a higher Shroud Passage Level (deeper zones), more powered base objects and water sources, and a flat +1 attribute bonus. Max is currently Level 9 (raised from 8 in Update 7).
